Driftwood Dress

After a lot of hours coiling and draping those bias strips, I fondly finally finished my dress. It looks better on a person than on a dress form, and is actually really flattering (and futuristic).

And now I'm done with school until September!  Main goals this summer: go to the beach a lot, get really tan, read more, cook more, run more.

Driftwood Inspiration

This is a mood board for a dress that I'm currently draping... I was inspired by the curves and crevices in bleached out driftwood, and also the pops of crazy color from algae when the wood first washes to shore. A hint of Michigan nostalgia tends to carry over into my work from time to time.

Finally finished my sea shell inspired corset! Cheers!

Corset: Phase too many to count

I've finally pieced together all 18 pieces of the corset, installed the cage and boning, and draped the outer ombre silk chiffon. Last step will be to add the grommets and lace up the back. Whew!
